Epic Games has released its first official tease of buy fortnite materials Season 5 and also confirmed a couple of things we already understood. In a tweet on Monday morning, the company stated that the brand new Fortnite season was only 3 days off. Though the July 12 launch date was previously announced, it's nice to have it supported since Epic may occasionally be a little late on their launch -- looking at you Playground Mode.
Though the official release date is fine, it's only one tease in the conversation, which seems to feature a mask emerging from one of those rifts that keep popping in-game up. While fan speculation around the mask is currently warming up on the internet, it seems probably that this is really a reference to the Japanese kitsune, or fox. In accordance with Japanese yokai folklore, the kitsune can shapeshift -- mostly into human form -- also possesses various supernatural attributes.
As soon as it's difficult to say what this could mean for fast way to get fortnite weapons, it does appear to be the first reference to Japan we have seen so far. Though other eras of history have appeared -- such as wooden carriages, pirate references or anchors to early Egypt -- that is the first time we have seen something that points to Ancient Japan as a possible influence to this season's heavily speculated, but still unconfirmed, time-travel theme.
More importantly, at least for many players, is the possibility that this may tease a kitsune skin unlocked throughout the Season 5 Fight Pass. The first teases for Season 4 revealed skins which were available via its Battle Pass therefore it does not look like a lot of stretch.While we likely won't know anything for sure until the season actually starts at 4 a.m. EDT on July 12, we'll probably get a few more teasers in the forthcoming days.
